In September 2012 a small production crew embarked upon an epic journey across Somaliland and Somalia in pursuit of a story for a project they called ‘Through the Fire’. The people they met and the things they witnessed along the way moved them deeply. It was truly a life-changing experience.
Six months later, the finished film had its world premiere at the Academy Theater in New York City where it was nominated for a student Oscar. In November, the European premiere took place at the UN Association Film Festival in London. Now, by popular demand, ‘Through the Fire’ is back and will be screening internationally from March onwards.
The current schedule can be accessed here, with many more events to be added in the coming weeks and months. Highlights include screenings at the Tricycle Cinema, London; the Library of Congress, Washington DC; and the Sydney Opera House. At all these events, representatives of the three organisations featured in the documentary will be attending as guest speakers.
Please keep checking the online box office for further dates and venues as the schedule continues to unfold. If all the listed events are out of orbit and you would like for the film to be screened in a city near you, feel free to place a request here.
